I dont know anyone who does not like Chick-Fil-A. It is one of my favorite places to eat. I came across this video the other day on my pastors twitter page. It is a very funny song about a man wanting to eat at Chick-Fil-A. Please watch it!!

More Food!

Yes, I am posting about more food. We tried a new recipe the other night and it was yummy!! I know that this picture of raw chicken is not the most appetizing, but the end result is worth it. I cooked the chicken, onions, carrots and spices, and then the peppers, broccoli and mushrooms. (the mushrooms were not for me, I politely pushed them to the side of my plate when I was eating, but my hubby loves them )

The end result was this stir fry that we put over rice.
It was very good and I will definately do this again!!

Are you hungry now?? :-)

Over the Weekend

Well, I am hoping that everyone knows what time of year it is. Girl Scout Cookie Time!! I did my part to support the Girl Scouts and I bought 3 boxes from the little girl down the street. I know that this it alot, but it is nothing compared to the year that I was pregnant with L. The Girl Scouts loved me that year because I bought 8 boxes and ate every one of them!! Needless to say my little Girl Scout is disappointed every year that she comes to get my order and I am not pregnant. She knows that her sales will not be as high!!

One of the first things on the To Do List this weekend was haircuts! The boys were looking very shaggy and needed a trim. So we loaded up with Tic Tacs(the only way to keep boys quiet and entertained during a haircut) on Saturday morning with the rest of the men in Elkins and went to get haircuts. We waited for quite a while, but it was worth it. They look much better! Thank you Mr. Jack!!
The rest of the day we played outside in the warm weather. It was a beautiful day! I did forget my camera while we were outside though!! After naps though, I had to think of ways to keep the boys busy and the tv off, soooooo this is what we did.

Levi played with his gun. Not sure what he was shooting at though!!

Ethan put together the train set. I just love that face!!

Look at that strength!! This is how he does things since he can bend his knees.

Still working on the train. I love that he can work on these things for a long time. I just wish that I could keep L's attention for that long!

L moved on from the gun to a puzzle. He is very good at them even though he tries very hard to get some help. If he is left alone he is very good at doing them all by himself!!

I do have to tell a funny story about E. Every time he goes to therapy he works with Ms. Christy on bending his knees. She is very good at making sure that every where that he walks during therapy he is walking with his knees bent to get there. Ms. Christy told E the other day that since he has gotten so good at walking with his knees bent at therapy that he needed to start practicing his walking somewhere else too. E then proceeds to tell her that we have talked about this "as a family" and that we made a "family decision" that he only needed to walk with his knees bent while he was at therapy! We have never talked about this to my knowledge, but is Ms. Christy supposed to tell him to ignore his family's decision?? We thought this was too funny!! He is such a quick little guy. I know that we are in for some stories when he gets a little older!! Dont you think???

Old Oliver

This is our dog. We call him Oliver.............or Old Oliver................or Ober (L's nickname for him) and most of the time, Dumb Dog.

He loves for us to play with him. He is fun and hyper and very cute. I love that you can't see his eyes very well!
But he does have his bad moments! Digging under the fence would be one of them. You can see my temporary fix until the weather gets warmer!

This one is a big no no!! It might become a problem when I am ready to plant flowers.
Dumb dog!!
I really dont understand chewing up the wood dog house. I also did not get a picture of it, but he does not keep his blankets in the dog house. He drags them out in to the yard and lays on them. He only gets in the dog house if it is raining/snowing/really cold. (and sometimes not even then!)
Dumb dog!!!

This one was a little shocking. This is the boys wading pool. As you can see there is a good sized hole in it. I guess we wont be using it this summer!

This little thing hold the boys play telescope on the playground. I am not sure where the telescope is, but Oliver had a big time on this one.

I know that you ask.."Why dont you buy him a bone to chew on??" Well, I did that. And it went great. He chewed it up in about 2 days. So a few weeks later I get him another bone. What does he do with that one? He wont touch it!!! The snob!

We do love him anyway. He has become a part of our family, Old Ober. I am choosing to not tell you about him running away with his food bowls after every meal!!
We love you, you DUMB DOG!!!

Happy Valentines Day!!

Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver.

There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.

Happy Valentines Day to My Love!!

Full of Personality

This is my boy. We bought him a cowboy hat for Christmas and it was the best $3.00 that we have ever spent. Aunt Ra Ra gave him some cowboy boots and he is all set.
We never know when his is going to disappear for a few minutes to put on his Cowboy garb. He comes out of his room yelling "Howdy Par par!" which in L terms means, howdy partner!!

One thing that is missing from these pictures is his "rope." He found a shoe string that he uses and calls it is rope. He uses it to lasso the door nobs and the bed posts. Very cute. Yes, I know we are going to have to finish the outfit for him and get him a real rope.

This is the other side of his personality. When he disappears he might also be sitting down "reading" a book. He loves to look at books.

I usually carry at least 2 books/magazines in my purse for him to look at. They are very useful during church and at restaurants.

This trick would never work with my other boy. He would need paper and crayons, that I also carry in my purse at all times. Along with a Transformer. a matchbox car, a Saxon math addition wrap up and plenty of Tic Tacs. (our barber thinks that the Tic Tacs are hilarious, the boys are always really quiet during their haircuts.) Thank goodness for big purses!

I love my boys!!!

More snow and the story of the sled

The Story of the Sled
So the story goes that when Cale's dad was a boy, there was a big snow. But the Whiteley family did not have a sled. So Grady and his siblings went out that day and borrowed their friends sleds. When Grady's dad (PaPa to us) came home that night after working all day he surprised the kids with this brand new sled. They were to excited to go to bed after getting a new sled!! So PaPa parked his car at the bottom of the hill and shined the headlights on the hill so that the kids could try out their new sled. It was midnight before they stopped. The cost of the sled in the 1950's was $6.75. The price is still written on the back. Still today this is the favorite sled to use. It works better than any other sled that we have.
Enjoying the snow day out at the farm.

Using Grandpa's sled!!
This would be me, keeping it real. I am ready for the snow days to go away. Everytime we have snow my front hallway ends up looking like this. We have to dig for hats, gloves, shoes, scarves, etc. and it all ends up in the floor when we are done using them. I will give you one guess who gets to clean it up!!!! Snow snow go away.....

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

It never fails when Cale gets to be home and we plan on sleeping in that two little boys come running to our room and jump on the bed. "We are hungry. We are hungry!!" "What is for breakfast?"
One of our favorite breakfasts when daddy is home is Chocolate Chip Pancakes. The boys love to help. They both climb on to the counter and "help." And by help I mean that they love to each whatever chocolate chips they can get their hands on while we are cooking!
Are they ready yet???
YUMMMMMM.......................

Cooked to perfection! Of course you cannot leave off the butter and syrup.

Welcome to Holland

This is a very special story to me because it describes everything that I feel in my heart of hearts. I cry every time I read it. I know that I posted this to facebook and that some of you may have already read it, but I know that there are a few of you who are not on facebook and have not read this poem. This is for you.

WELCOME TO HOLLAND
By Emily Pearl Kingsley

"I am often asked to describe an experience
of raising a child with a disability –
to try to help people who have not shared
that unique experience to understand it,
to imagine how it would feel.

It's like this:When you're going to have a baby,
it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip – to Italy.
You buy a bunch of guidebooks
and make your wonderful plans.
The Coliseum, the Michelangelo "David",
the gondolas in Venice.
You may learn some handy phrases in Italian.
It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation,
the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go.
Several hours later, the plane lands.
The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland".
"Holland? you say. "What do you mean Holland?
I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy.
All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."
"But there has been a change in the flight plan.
They've landed in Holland, and there you must stay."

The important thing is that they
haven't taken you to a horrible, filthy place, full of famine and disease.
It's just a different place.
So you must buy new guidebooks.
And you must learn a whole new language.
And you will meet a whole new group
of people you would never have met.

It's just a different place. It's slower paced than Italy,
less flashy than Italy.
But after you've been there a little while,
you look around and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills.
Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.
But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy,
and they're all bragging about
what a wonderful time they had there.
And for the rest of your life, you will say,
"Yes, that's where I was supposed to go.
That's what I had planned."

The pain of that will never, ever go away,
because the loss of that dream is a very significant loss.
But if you spend your life mourning the fact
that you didn't get to Italy,
you may never be free to enjoy the very special,
the very lovely things about Holland.

Baby Blues

I have a Page-A-Day calendar with comics from the Baby Blues comic strip on each page. It is always something that I can relate to. This comic was for today, February 2, and I did laugh out loud because I could identify with the mom. Sorry that I dont have a picture, I still have not figured out how to get a picture off of the internet.

Dad: You look nice today

Mom: Very funny

Dad: No! I mean it!

Mom: Get real, Darryl.

Mom: I'm wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt, no makeup and I haven't showered in almost 36 hours. What could be even remotely attractive about this?

Dad: The potential.

This is my life! Have a great day!

Birthday Pictures

I need to get some pictures on here of E's 6th birthday. It turned out really good and we all had a lot of fun. This is the birthday boy with his cake.
Blowing out the candles.
Yes, we broke down and got him the aquarium. He loves it. We have all enjoyed watching the fish and feeding them. I think that this was the highlight of his birthday. He has been asking for an aquarium for over a year.

This has also been really fun. Everything happens with magnets. It also came with a music box that plays music while the ball goes around the course. Levi loves to dance to the music!!

Levi was so excited about presents until he realized that he was not getting any. Grandma came through though and bought him this little cup with a train on it. He was so excited about getting a present. It was all very cute.
Happy Birthday to my favorite 6 year old!!!
